City Out to Continue Good Form
Manchester City begin this weekend 10th in the Premier League. Thy are five points behind Liverpool but do have a game in hand. Both sides have had a few ups and downs this season and this is a game City won't want to lose.
Falling eight points behind Liverpool, all be it with a game in hand is going to be a great position to be in for City. Winning this match and being two points behind from one less game changes City's season. Tuesday saw them continue their recent good form with a 3-0 home win over Olympiakos in the Champions League. They are now unbeaten in their last eight league and cup games. City are in the quarter finals of the EFL Cup and have a 100% record in the Champions League. Another successful season is looking on the cards.
That probably wasn't being thought when they lost 5-2 at home to Leicester City. A good piece of news for them is that the last three wins have all been with a clean sheet. That's not always the case for them. They win lots of games but always seem to find a way of conceding. Keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool isn't going to be easy though. Mind you, they managed to do that in their last meeting when beating the already crowned champions 4-0 at home.
Recent results against Liverpool have been good with only one loss in the last five meetings and that was at Anfield. 11 goals have been scored against Liverpool in their last three home league games against them. There are usually goals aplenty in this fixture with seven of the last nine having over 2.5 goals scored. That's definitely a bet worth considering for this game.
A New Hero at Anfield
Liverpool have also had their problems this season but are back in good form. The 7-2 away loss to Aston Villa won't be forgotten but the Reds haven't lost since that game. Midweek saw a potentially tricky away game in Atalanta become anything but that. They went to Italy and came home with a 5-0 victory and a new goal scoring hero.
Diego Jota has been a revelation since arriving at Anfield. His hat-trick against Atalanta means he now has six goals in his last four matches. The trio of Mane, Salah and Firmino are the newest Fab Four in the city. Liverpool have now won five games in a row and their attacking prowess is again frightening. Betting on Jota to continue his great form with another goal is a worthwhile bet.
Clean sheets are still something that's not guaranteed in a Liverpool fixture. If Sheffield United and West Ham United can score against them, the odds are that Manchester City can too. An exciting game looks on the cards here and Liverpool will know how important a win will be for them.
City have a good home record but there are still memories of that loss to Leicester City. Betting on over 2.5 goals and both teams to score look the best ways to get a win here.
