Millwall Need to Cut out the Home Draws
Almost without being noticed, Millwall have moved up to third place in the Championship. They host 16th placed Huddersfield Town this Saturday but need to improve their home form.
Millwall have won four of their eight league games this season. A 2-0 away win at Preston North End took them to within a point of the top two. However, all is still not well at Millwall, because only one of four home league games has been won this season.
They are still unbeaten at home but three out of four have ended level. Each of their home league games has had under 2.5 goals scored in them. The last time home fans saw more than 2.5 goals scored was in July when Millwall won 4-1 at home against.....Huddersfield Town. At least three goals has only happened twice in their last 14 home games, so there's a definite problem here. A bet on under 2.5 goals being scored in this game is a distinct possibility.
Ten league goals have been scored by Millwall this season. Their top scorer is Jed Wallace with four, no other player has scored more than one league goal. A lack of firepower may well make it difficult for Millwall to win promotion this season. Five of their six goals scored at home this season in the Championship have come in the first half.
Huddersfield Struggling Again
The last couple of seasons have been rather miserable for Huddersfield Town. Relegation from the Premier League was followed by an 18th place finish in the Championship last season. They finished just three points above the relegation zone and lost 21 league games, making it 49 in two seasons.
This season hasn't gone that much better for the Terriers. They begin this weekend in 16th place, four points behind the play-offs and five above the bottom three. The new season began with two straight defeats, before beating an out-of-form Nottingham Forest at home. That started them off on a good run with seven points from the next three games.
More points looked on the way when they took an early lead at home to Preston. However, they lost that game 2-1 and then were defeated by the same scoreline at Birmingham in midweek. All of which leaves Huddersfield with a crucial period in their season. A good run in the next few weeks will see them in with a chance of getting back to the Premier League. More defeats could see them battling to stay in the division.
Away form has seen just two away league wins in the last 12 played. This season they have four points from as many games with just four scored. They have scored in four of their last five away league games though, so a bet on both teams to score in this game looks the best bet to make, while questions remain over Millwall's home form.
