MATCH PREVIEW

Fulham Going for Fourth Straight Win

Fulham are in top form at present and they travel to Swansea City on Friday evening looking to make it four league wins in a row. The Londoners had a convincing 3-0 home win over Derby County on Tuesday evening. That took them up to third in the table four points behind the top two. That gap will widen to five if West Bromwich Albion avoid defeat at Preston North End. A win for Preston would see Fulham drop to fourth.

Even so, its a good position for Fulham to be in at this stage of the season. Third place is their highest league placing for the London club who are bidding to return to the Premier League at the first attempt. After losing their opening league game at Barnsley, Fulham won the next three with eight goals scored but then their form dipped.  None of the next four games were won, though three ended in a 1-1 draw.

Two league wins got them back in the groove but their hot and cold season continued with a run of one win in the next five. That took them down to tenth in the table but three successive wins have seen them climb back to third place. Now comes a crucial period with this game against Swansea followed by matches against Bristol City, Preston North End and Brentford.  All three sides are in the top eight, so a severe test of Fulham's promotion potential is about to begin. Away form has produced three wins, three draws and two losses but only one win in the last three.

Swans Struggling for Form

Swansea City are fifth in the table but have gone three league games without a win. They have been disappointing results as the highest current position for the clubs faced is ninth. With teams below them playing on Wednesday evening, it's highly likely that the Swans could be about to drop out of the play-off positions.

Form has been a problem for a while now. They have just three wins in their last ten league matches. A form table over that perod of time has them in 14th with 13 points earned. That's compared to the 20 that their opponents have won.  It's all a tad disappointing after an excellent start to the season saw them earn 16 points from their first six games.

Home results got off to a great start with three wins in a row. Since then, though Swansea have earned just four points from five home league games. The only recent win at home was a 1-0 victory over struggling Cardiff City.  That at least would have put a big smile on the faces of the home fans.

Only six points separate Swansea from 14th placed Derby County, so more bad results could see them significantly slide down the table. Not therefore, the best of times for them to have consecutive league games against Fulham and top of the table West Bromwich Albion.

When it comes to whether this game will have over or under 2.5 goals scored, both sides are 9-9 for their league fixtures.  Three of the last four Fulham league matches have had over 2.5 goals scored in them. When they are in form, the goals do tend to flow. A bet on an away win with 2.5 goals scored could well be a winner here,
